St Pauls Institute of Communication Education (SPICE), Mumbai organized MEDIATHON 2017 from 3rd to 4th February 2017. MEDIATHON is a media festival consists of events like making ad jingles, debate, short film making competition, etc. The first day began with the Galactic football and the Treasure hunt. In the penalty shootout, the Holy Family team won the exciting football match. The treasure hunt consisted of decoding six locations with the help of QR code scanning app. The first team to complete the entire hunt and decode all the locations took about 45 minutes. Saturday 4th February witnessed an array of events and workshops. The day started with the opening ceremony in which Fr Dominic D’Silva, the Director, addressed both the participants and the students. Carol Andrade, the Dean of the Institute, declared the festival open. Both the students and the volunteers enjoyed all the workshops conducted by professionals. The workshop conducted by Rajeev Masand focused on the principles of film reviewing. Jump, Jive and Swing conducted by Marlon Almeida and his team ensured that students learned jive. For those who never thought that they could dance, it was a surprise as they saw themselves grooving to the steps of jive along with their partners. The Deakin-Workshop conducted by Katya was informative and inspirational. During this workshop, Aron explained to the participants the facilities offered by the university. The workshop conducted by Furtados was for aspiring musicians to join the Furtados’ courses where they can learn music in terms of history, reading notes & much more. The fest ended with a performance by the students of SPICE, vote of thanks by Margaret, the Course-Coordinator of Advertising & Marketing, who conceived this idea of Mediathon and price distribution.
