CAP-ESW: ILLUMINATIVE PHASE - II

The first two and half days of the Seminar were dedicated to understand and discuss various themes related to the theme: “Pauline Mission among People of Different Faiths and Cultures”. Fr. Devasia Puthiyaparambil dwelt on the topic “Pauline Mission towards the Masses: Vision and thoughts of Blessed James Alberione”. Fr. Michael Goonan from Australia presented the theme “Interpretation and application of the Alberionian vision and thoughts in our 100 year history: Priorities and Operative Guidelines of the General Chapters: Special General Chapter 1969-71 and X General Chapter 2015. In his talk, Fr. Renold Paschal highlighted the theme “Communication Revolution: A power to Inform, Form and Transform”. As response to the communication revolution, Bishop Percy Fernandes pointed out how we can be effective in our communication.  On the second day, the circumscription Superiors presented a panoramic view of the religious, cultural, linguistic, social, historical and ecclesial realities of their circumscriptions. The Directors General pointed out the pauline apostolic activities specifically oriented towards people of different faith and cultures in their respective circumscriptions. Fr. Joby Mathew highlighted the apostolic initiatives of special significance in India followed by a guided tour through the various apostolic departments in St Pauls Media Complex. As part of “Living testimonies from some of those who have benefitted from such initiatives” Gp Capt Achchyut Kumar, Mr Naresh Karmalker and Ms Nasreen Hashambhoy (all people of other faiths) shared their association with St Pauls and the benefits they experienced through Pauline Mission. Fr. Celso Godilano, the General Councillor, in his amply footnoted presentation dwelt on the theme: “Formation of Paulines to live and communicate the Gospel Values in a Multi-religious and Multi-cultural reality with the means of social communication”. The illuminative phase was concluded with a group work and the presentation of their findings emerging from the input sessions.
