The Ecclesiastical Province of Ibadan, comprising of Ibadan Archdiocese and five other dioceses, has prepared a two-volume adult Catholic Catechism titled: A Catechism on Human Life (Vol I), and A Catechism on Marriage and Family (Vol II). The bishops of the province have selected ST PAULS, Nigeria, to print, publish and distribute these volumes from among many other publishers they had considered. In awarding us the work, the Archbishop of Ibadan, Most Rev. Gabriel 'Leke Abegunrin wrote to us: “The Bishops of Ibadan Province have consulted several publishers for this project. In appreciation of your quality service and place in the Church, we would like to publish this historic catechism with you....”
These books, written in question and answer form, are expected to be reference books for Catholics—the youth and adult, the engaged and married ones, legislators, healthcare personnel, the scientific community, seminarians, catechists and priests and religious. First of their kind in the whole of Africa, we hope these Catechism books will endure beyond the shores of Nigeria and will be in demand in the whole of Anglophone Africa. They will be ready for distribution by the middle of October this year as the first print run of 10,000 copies each is in progress.
