As part of its publicity drive to announce her existence in the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos, the Agege Deanery of the Church hosted the management of Alberione Institute of Communication Education (AICE) at the John Bosco auditorium complex in Iju area of Lagos State, Nigeria on Tuesday, October 2017.
The event which coincided with the quarterly deanery meeting of priests working in parishes, quazi parishes and outpost within the Agege area, had in attendance priests and their associates from more than fifteen parishes including the dean, Very Rev. Fr. Augustine Nnaemeka.
Fr. Nnaemeka introduced Fr. Jikson Mullasseril as the director of the Institute and also one of their members.
Fr. Mullasseril in his brief remarks stated the aims and objectives of the Media College among which is to train men and women to become world-class journalists, media practitioners and producers.
He asked his fellow priests to take advantage of the Institute sited within the deanery to train their youths, especially lectors and other religious functionaries in media literacy, communication skill and use of English, the major language of mass communication in the Achdiocese of Lagos.
Power point presentation of the college diploma and certificate courses in electronic, print and online journalism were highlighted by the project coordinator, Mr. Mike Echi to the admiration of priests who gathered at the venue.
The dean of Agege deanery, Very Rev. Fr. Augustine Nnaemeka responding on behalf of the priests in attendance enjoined his fellow priests to embrace the media college and give it the needed support.
