The second edition of ST PAULS Free Health Camp was organized on 25th March 2018 at ST PAULS COLLEGE and SPICE, Bangalore. The main goal of the event was to help the needy and get the health checkup, which might cost a common man a fortune. The free checkup was done in the following areas: Eye checkup, general checkup, cancer awareness and counselling, infertility test, sugar and blood checkup. The event started with a prayer by Fr Prithvi Raj, the principal and Fr (Dr) Plavendran welcomed the gathering. Fr principal felicitated the doctors (fourteen of them) who had come to serve the patients. After the short inauguration medial camp began with lot of enthusiasm. As many as three hundred people from the locality registered for the medical camp. Apart from these, many student volunteers and faculties of different departments also benefited from the camp. In this camp, free medicines were distributed for the deserving patients and as many as fifty free spectacles will be distributed for the eye patients. Added to this a large bus having all the facilities for the blood donation was placed in the campus. It is arranged by the Red Cross Society. It is said that this is the only available bus of this kind in Karnataka. On this day, they collected 47 units of blood from people. Many people were thankful for this event as they were hesitant to go to hospitals and clinic due to their busy lives and financial troubles. The management, faculties, student volunteers and the sponsors for the event made it a grand success. It was a well planned and executed event with the able assistance of Sr (Dr) Hellan of St Ann’s of Bangalore.
