Pune : As a preparation for the feast of the Nativity of our Blessed Mother Mary at St. Ignatius Church, Kirkee, the community of Pune organized a ten-day exhibition cum sale of books and religious articles. The exhibition stall was open from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. The display mainly consisted of Bibles in English and many regional languages, prayer and Novena books, Life of Saints, Calendars, Inspirational Quote, and religious articles such as rosaries, scapulars, statues, frames etc . It is popular among the devotees of "Vailankanni Matha", Pune, and the surrounding areas to buy prayer and novena books and religious articles from the church campus during the novena days and the feast day. Though the public response was rather good, the number of people who turned out for the novena days and the feast day was less than that of the previous years, mainly because this year many churches in Pune held novenas and celebrated the Feast of Nativity with great solemnity. "The crowd was smaller than that of last year," remarked Fr V. Louis, the parish priest of St. Ignatius Church, Kirkee. Besides, the exhibition was badly affected by the rain on the weekend and the heavy rain on Feast Day (September 8). Br. Jolly, our Book Centre Director, says, "We are consoled at the fact that most of the visitors to our stall know our Book Centre at the Camp, and therefore we will be able to serve them during the year".
