Subodha Nilayam Joins The City Traffic Awareness Cell

Eluru : The number of different vehicles, in addition to the line buses and school buses plying on the streets of Eluru, has more than doubled over the past three years. Evidently, the number of road accidents, particularly those involving young people, has considerably increased in the city. Taking this into account, two weeks ago, the Police Department formed a Traffic Awareness Cell, inviting prominent citizens, social workers, heads of institutions, and representatives from the three major religions in the city to join in and assist the police personnel engaged in controlling the traffic in the city, particularly during the peak hours. We were pleasantly surprised when the organisers of the above cell invited Subodha Nilayam to be part of the special group meant to motivate the public, particularly the students from the numerous educational institutions in the city, to strictly follow the traffic rules and save lives from being victims of the ever-recurring road accidents. Fr. Alfonso Elengikal, the Provincial Delegate of the Community, represented Subodha Nilayam in the cell’s first meeting, chaired by the City Circle Inspector of Traffic, who was highly pleased with the practical suggestions we made in this regard.
