Institution of the New Tabernacle

On the Fourth Sunday of Advent, 24 December 2023, His Grace Most Rev Dr George Anthonysamy, the Archbishop of Madras-Mylapore, instituted a new Tabernacle in our Parish, Divine Mercy Church, Anna Nagar East, Chennai.

The solemn Eucharistic celebration was presided over by the Archbishop, while Very Rev Fr Stanley Sebastian, the Vicar General of the Archdiocese, Frs Jose Paul, Michael John, Tazhil Mani and Dominic Savio D’Silva concelebrated with the Archbishop. After the communion service, in the presence of the parishioners and the faithful in large numbers, the rite of institution of the new Tabernacle took place. The Archbishop said the prayers of the institution and blessed and incensed the new Tabernacle. As a symbol of entrustment, the Archbishop handed over the key of the Tabernacle to Fr Dominic, the parish priest.

On the same day, our community in Chennai hosted a breakfast for the Archbishop, the Vicar General, the Secretary to the Archbishop and a few parishioners. While all invited guests enjoyed the hospitality and the presence of our members. the Archbishop thanked the Paulines for their service in the Archdiocese.
