“It is so sad to know that you are discontinuing The Teenager. Our students greatly appreciated and were enriched by the magazine. Thank you for the wonderful service you offered through your publication,” wrote Sr Lucy FMA (Principal) from Gayzing, Sikkim. We are getting similar messages from principals, students, writers, and subscribers expressing a sense of loss at the discontinuation of The Teenager Today.
Founded by two visionary giants, Fr J. Maurus SSP and Fr Aloysius Rego, The Teenager Today was born at St Paul’s Community in Prayagraj (formerly Allahabad) in 1963. The magazine gave us the opportunity for our Pauline mission to enter directly into the world of the young, focusing on their holistic growth. Ever since its inception it has undergone many phases in its development, from a small size with a few pages in single colour to two colours on newsprint paper, relocating its publication from Allahabad to Mumbai, and finally to four colours on art paper. Throughout its 61-year journey, it was managed by various able editors and supported by dedicated Pauline members in its production and circulation.
Responding to the signs of the times, God is inviting us now to move into more effective and relevant ways in our mission. With great satisfaction in our hearts and gratitude to God, we acknowledge and we are proud that we have done a wonderful service to the youth of this country. At this moment, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the various Provincial Governments, DGAs, Superiors, and all the members who have played a vital role in nurturing and sustaining this remarkable magazine. May the Lord continue to inspire us as we seek to reach wider horizons in our mission.
